Venn with pizza and Hannah, Caroline, Max

August 18, 2023: Well today I took my medication at 5:55am with two 6g fat yogurts, and then my dad came by at 7:15am to come with me to Mayo. I was feeling a bit sleepy so I almost had him drive me while I dozed, but it occurred to me right before leaving that I felt like I wouldn’t be able to doze, so I drove. At Mayo today we had some confusing things happen. They had a ridiculously hard time adjusting my shunt, and they had said last time that it was adjusted to setting 2 (from setting 4), and today it wasn’t there. So they had to send me down to get an X-ray to confirm what setting it was at. Then they had to adjust it again to an even lower setting, so I had to get another set of X-rays. It was very confusing, and we did a lot of running around. While we were waiting for stuff in the lobby, Papa ran down to get us some food for lunch. I had a salmon bowl, of which the best part was the rice. I also noted that I’d last eaten at around 1:30pm, which was important because we decided I’d take my meds a bit earlier in the day, so I’d be able to share a dinner with my friends at night. I had a weirdly difficult time connecting to cell service at Mayo today, and even had to use both Mayo’s wifi and Papa’s hot spot. Then, after getting my shunt adjusted yet again, we decided to go home. Again, I felt like I might wanna sleep during the drive, but again I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to actually fall asleep, so I just drove home too. At home, I put some stuff away, and changed clothes and put on makeup, and also took a shower around 5pm because I felt like my hair was a touch dirty. Then, we decided that Hannah would come by at 6pm so we could walk to Venn together to play some games. I also changed into a shirt that Hannah had given me, that says Occidental on it. She came over at 6pm, and we decided on the games together. I also learned that the pants I had chosen today had also come from Hannah, which I hadn’t remembered. I had chosen some green capris, and she told me that she’d bought them in England during her study abroad. For games to bring, we decided on Blokus, Bananagrams, and Boggle, since it was a bit too windy to play card games outside. Then we walked over to Venn, where we’d decided to go just because they would have space to play games, unlike a restaurant. We met Caroline and Max there. While we were talking, I asked them about their first date. It was roller skating, and then paddle boarding once they actually decided to go on a date. At Venn, we ordered a pizza from Parkway, which Max went to pick up for us. We decided on the Mediterranean pizza, which was a good decision. I had missed my BeReal when it went off earlier in the day, since it happened when I didn’t have service at Mayo, so I took it of us with the pizza, around the time we were trying to play Bananagrams. Hannah said that doing the BeReal so much later in the day wasn’t very “real” of me. During the night, I also showed Caroline a photo of one of the X-ray scans of my shunt that had been taken at Mayo today. Then, when we were leaving Venn and walking away, I grabbed an actual photo of all of us actually looking at the camera.

Grateful things today:

  1. Grateful for my friends.

  2. Grateful that I haven’t forgotten how to drive.

  3. Grateful that we can play games.
