Tonkin and Fogo time with Mattheas, Annali, Suheily

June 15, 2023: Meds at 6:40am with two cups of Trader Joe’s yogurt for 12g of fat. Papa called me while I was in the bathroom to check if I was awake for my Dr. Tonkin appointment. I left for the Dr. Tonkin appointment at around 7:35am and got there a bit before 8am. In the appointment I asked him if there would ever be a time when my full time job wasn’t brain injury recovery, and he said that he thinks there will be. I also talked to him a bit about relationships and the possibility of the new job at St. John’s. He told me that he doesn’t think the brain will ever stop recovering, even without a bad accident. My next appointment with him is gonna be in September. Then I went back home and had my therapy with Whitney, also eating my lunch which was the leftover unstuffed grape leaves that Kaky had made, and I was careful to finish it before 12pm, so it’s easy to know when I last ate for the meds. Now I’m texting Mattheas, and I think there’s a chance I’ll go over to his place and help him clean before we go to the Cottage Grove thing with Fogo people tonight. I told Whitney about that, and she told me that I have “so many friends.” That’s a quote. Not sure what I’ll make my photos of the day today yet, but I’m 1000% sure I’ll have many good options. I do! Well tragically I didn’t take a Dr. Tonkin photo yesterday even though he remembered taking a photo with me before, and said I seemed like I was in a slightly worse mood than then. I have no recollection of that. Then after the Tonkin appointment I went home and did my Whitney appointment. The absolutely beautiful thing was what happened after the Whitney appointment. I went over to Mattheas’s house to meet up with him at like 12:15pm. He had just gotten out of the shower and he said he had to clean a ton. So I got there at like 12:40pm, we talked and had a great time, and driving to his house was literally the same as driving halfway to Fogo for me. I even went down Park St., which I’m sure he also takes to Fogo. We had amazing conversations, he even said that he genetically was part Jewish and was also Irish, Hungarian, Greek, native American, Norwegian and German. Only know that because I texted it to myself. Then we cleaned a bit more and at 5:45pm I took my night meds with a little package of 12g fat cheese and nuts that I’d gotten from Open Door the other day. Then we went to the strawberry festival, and Maeve couldn’t come to join us for some reason, but we ended up meeting up with Annali and Suheily. Annali is a girl who I used to be a hostess with when I was a hostess before the accident, and Suheily was a customer service rep who recently got fed up and left Fogo too. Funny enough Annali hadn’t known Suheily had left Fogo yet until I mentioned it. Annali is working at Ameriprise now. Suheily is working at Billy’s Sushi with one or two other ex-CSRs from Fogo, and she’s also pursuing becoming a realtor. She mentioned yesterday that she’s sold two houses recently, and both of them were to ex-bosses. She sold one to Fernando, one of our bosses at Fogo, and one to a different boss she had a different place. I also showed all of them the .pdf draft I have of my yearbook on my phone, especially the accident page, which has a photo with both Suheily and Mattheas in it, maybe the second to last photo I took before the accident. Then we all decided to get food too, and we split up and Annali and I walked to the food truck called D&D Goodies, which was Vietnamese. Suheily and Mattheas went to a different chicken place. At the Vietnamese place both Annali and I had a combo that had both an egg roll and 3 won tons for $12. Later on we also ended up getting some lemonade and I got a Thai tea from the Vietnamese place too. I also randomly asked Suheily some time later when she’d take me to Puerto Rico with her. That actually led to a fantastic conversation because she said she was thinking about inviting some of us in September. We also made an excellent plan to use Mattheas’s four free Fogo tickets that we all got for working the holidays, and we’d use them together and if there’s 5 of us because we also end up taking Maeve, we can just split the cost of one extra meal. He thinks they might expire in like a month, but he’ll check on that and get back to us. So it was the best time ever yesterday, and we also made amazing plans for the future. Some time in the month try to use Mattheas’s four free Fogo tickets, and then maybe go to Puerto Rico with Suheily in September. Sounds freaking spectacular. Oh and then I also ended up sleeping over at Mattheas’s house at the end of the night too because I decided to have my one beer then. So that was also a good decision. Thank God I texted Mattheas and asked him when he’d be around before the lack of strawberries festival thing. I really feel like I’m becoming friends with him, and I also taught him Canasta yesterday. He gave up because he felt like he was losing so badly one hand, even though he was above me in points. Oh and I also posted a picture of us all on Instagram, and I titled it “Hung out with Fogo people even though only one of us still works at Fogo 🍖.” That symbol was supposed to be the meat emoji I put my everyone from Fogo’s names on Snapchat, but it didn't publish in the .pdf. Oh and I also took some nice headshots for Suheily at the end of the night, and she posted one the next day. #photographer.
