Target trip, meet Bergquist, mañana shirt, clase con Atala y Alisa

November 20, 2023

Ok this morning, first I had an appointment with Jessica. I had a hard time logging on, and had to call to get a link because the Mayo portal wasn’t even letting me view appointments. During the appointment, we decided that the TBI, specifically not being able to work, has kinda made me deal with the cancer, since I hadn’t dealt with it before due to “drowning my problems” in working. We also decided that not having overcome the cancer in the past actually helped me to have something to overcome post-TBI. After that appointment, I drove to Target, and accidentally wore a red shirt, which meant I had people asking me where the bathroom was and stuff. After Richfield didn’t have a portable phone charger and an employee told me that Eagan had it, I went there. Eagan didn’t have it either lol, even tho Richfield said they did. So next time I look, I should bring my old broken portable charger, so I can show what I’m looking for.

Funny enough, right when I’d arrived at the Eagan Target, I realized I’d forgotten about a video call with Dr. Bergquist. So I did that call on my iPhone video, and it worked out fine. I told him all about feeling a TON happier recently, and actually seeing some small benefits coming out of the TBI. We agreed I should try not to think of things either before or after as “all good” or “all bad.” I said disability used to make me feel “unwell,” but now I’ve kinda accepted there’s good things about being paid not to work too much.

When I got home, I retyped my document to “talk outta depression,” with a couple additions from Bergquist and Jessica. Then, I organized my notes and prepared things for a few hours. I also responded to Will when he asked about good times to set up a new personal training session, and in writing him that email, I really did discover I’m kinda massively busy. I’m not even sure of a time I could fit in a regular weekly session, especially since now I usually work out with Bernie on Fridays after yoga class, which was my old Chloe time.

Then it was about time to head out for Spanish class, and first I ran to Oxendales and grabbed three cartons of oat milk, since they never expire and there was a massive discount today. If I remember right, they went from like $6.15 each to $4 and something. I also changed into one of my new shirts, that has Spanish on it, for going to Spanish class tonight. It says “mañana será bonito,” and the only thing I forgot to ask my teacher today in our last class of this Spanish 4 session was to double check if this shirt was translated correctly. I did get my BeReal exactly on time though, right after the class ended. Atala, the teacher, is in my pic, and so is a girl named Alisa, who also made a bunch of cookies for us tonight since it was our last class this session. The interesting thing is that Atala talked a TON about a new Spanish 5 class they’ll be able to offer for the first time now, and the site coordinator popped in and talked to us all about it. He passed around a sheet for us to write our names on and said that he’d sign us up for it now, and that if all six of us signed up, the class would definitely be offered.

It’s cool that Atala said that the Spanish 5 is going to include a TON more of the subjunctive mood, since the recent sessions in this class have really taught me that I need to learn a lot more subjunctive conjugations in different tenses. I’m pretty sure I only know present tense for most words in that mood.

The other cool and totally random thing today was that a girl from high school, named Bridget, messaged me about potentially shooting her wedding, which is gonna be next fall. I also learned that she met her future wife because they both work as EMTs at HCMC, and she actually said she knows one of the guys who I’d posted an Instagram picture with, Ryan Doheny, who casually saved my life.

After Spanish class, I drove home and forgot to take my meds the instant I got home, so I’m just doing it right now at 9:20pm with some Spanish Style Rice and a bit of cheese.
