August 20, 2023:
Well today the very first thing did was I thought about my night schedule and the fact that I should probably take my night meds on the later side of things. So I waited til 7am to have the meds so I could have them about 12 hours apart, with a strawberry and vanilla yogurt. Then I also made a shopping list of things to get at Trader Joe’s. Mom came over at 7:30am and we ran over to Papa’s house to drop off some stuff. Then, we placed an order at Target for some of my things that wouldn’t have been sold at Trader Joe’s, like eyeliner and brown brow gel and shower body wash.
Then, mom and I went shopping at Trader Joe’s, where I paid for my own groceries, which was pretty much only the yogurt I need to take my meds, and also some oat milk. We grabbed some cranberry juice at the end too, which I always like to have at my house.
Then she took me back to her house, and she left me there while she went out for lunch with a friend. While she was gone, I watched a bit more of Vida, the show that Talia told me about on Hulu. Honestly, mom even watched a few minutes of it and she liked it too. Mom also got back during my Zoom call for people with chronic illnesses. The Zoom call got onto the topic of feeling like it’s hard to make new friends and connect with people when you have a chronic illness, and everyone agreed with me that they feel the same way. I also learned that some people definitely have it worse than me with the restrictions placed on my eating habits because of the cancer medication. There were a couple people on the call who get their food from feeding tubes, so they can literally never share meals with anyone. So as hard as things are for me, they could be a lot worse.
Then it was time for mom and I to go to a Star Tribune-oriented picnic party thing. I was wearing a casual green v-neck, so she lent me a blue tank top to wear. She also let me choose her shirt, and I chose a pink one. Because of that, she said we had to take a photo together tonight, wearing the shirts. A woman named Marci took the photo, and she’s also in the photo I took just to make sure my BeReal would be on time, so I could get two extra posts. At the Strib party, which was at the house of a woman named Cindy, I had two chicken sloppy joe’s, and had a few sips of a watermelon white claw, but gave up on that because I wasn’t really enjoying it, and I also shouldn’t drink much, if anything. So I just had a couple fizzy waters there, and then some watermelon for the dessert. At the event, I also talked to the woman named Leslie who had brought me with her to shoot my first-ever concert. I know I talked to more people there, I just forget all of their names because I wasn’t taking a lot of notes. At the end of the night, I talked to a woman named London whose name before she was married was literally “London Bridge.” That woman was also a nurse, and we talked about some of my medical history with her.
Then, mom and I stopped to get gas on the way home, and then we picked up the order from Target that we’d placed earlier in the day. From Target, I knocked a bunch of stuff off my any.do list of things to buy. I was able to get replacement eyeliner, which I’ll need as soon as I start caring enough to do my makeup again. I also took my night meds at 7:06pm, not 7pm exactly, since I was getting home around that time and mom told me to stop making it harder for myself with the medications by putting a bunch more restrictions on it, like having them exactly 12 hours apart to the minute.
Also, grateful that I'm not on a feeding tube, grateful that I have friends, grateful that I can drive now.
