Sequence, Lunch at Sea Salt, Canasta with Jodi/Papa, Odyssey game night call

September 22, 2023:

Ok, so I took my meds at 7am this morning, with two yogurts for 12g fat. I didn’t write this down, but I remember that they were peaches & cream and mango & cream. In the morning, I also got ready and even told Papa that I purposely didn’t put on black eye makeup because it was so annoying to take it off at night, though I did do my eyebrows. Then, we decided to go over to Jodi’s, and also return a library book that I still had at my house from a few weeks ago. So we went to my house, and fortunately I’d written down the stuff I needed to pick up in my any.do. I needed to grab an extra small notebook for when my notebook #11 will be filled up soon, get a few shirts, grab backs for my earrings so they don’t fall out, get some underwear, and of course the library book. Then, after we did that, we went to the library and I returned the book, which had been a book club book that I never finished, and Papa picked up a few that he had on hold. Then, we went to Jodi’s and decided to try the game Sequence, which we’d heard some people didn’t like, just to see how it was. Honestly it was a little confusing, and I wasn’t sure if there was any way to use strategy to win it, since it seemed like it was really just luck. I guess I understand why a lot of people don’t like it. Anyways, in Sequence, I got the first sequence in our game, though we each got one in the end. After we played a game of that, we decided to go to Minnehaha Falls for lunch at Sea Salt. They decided that I should try driving, and I did it. I guess it was my first time driving since the recent surgery, so it’s good that just yesterday Dr. Marsh had said that I could drive any time now. For food at Sea Salt, I wasn’t feeling hungry at all, so I just had a cup of black bean and rice soup. Jodi also got a soup, and Papa got the po’boy, like always. I also got the pink guava sour nonalcoholic beer, which was quite good. The other cool thing that happened there was a pair of people sat down next to us, and they said the woman was from Australia. I forget whether her name was Cindy or Cynthia or something else, and Papa didn’t remember the name the guy said for her either. I told them that people always asked me if I’m from Australia because of the speech impediment, and she said that I should just say yes and run with it. Then, when we were ready to leave, we walked back to where I’d parked the car on the parkway, and then went back to Jodi’s. There, they asked me if I’d rather play Yahtzee or Canasta, and I chose Canasta because the game would involve more thinking and keep me more engaged. So we went outside and played that, and I lost spectacularly. It was by like 2000 points, at least. Then, we drove back to papa’s house and put stuff away, and I got a few things that had been shipped to me. I got my replacement snake necklace, which had tiny blue eyes, which I was surprised by, but I liked, and I also got the gem-holders for the diamond painting kits sent to me. Anyways, then I played some phone games and changed a bandaid that was on my stomach from the surgery. At that point it was almost 6pm, so time for the “game night” Zoom call with the rare diseases group. Anyways, this one was much better than the last one, especially because we played some games that had to do with geography, and the moderator, Kenna, was absolutely astounded by my geography and capitals knowledge. They also introduced me to a new website, www.globle.com, which also has a country every day. Oh, and we played one round of Contexto, which I’d never done before. Turns out that today’s word was Industry, and we were able to get to it in under 100 guesses. The closest guesses were manufacture and company, which were two of mine. Maybe that’s another game I can play moving forward. And then, at night, I sat down to do this and confirmed with mom that I’ll be volunteering at Methodist tomorrow morning, since I had no problems doing that last time. The only other thing is that at the end of my Zoom call, the next day’s BeReal went off, and I got it on time, which is in here too. Nice to have those two extra posts for tomorrow.

Grateful things: Grateful to have not thrown up today! Low bar, but it’s a positive for me.
