Photos for Luis Carrillo

May 1, 2023: Alright well today I can’t find my notebook. I also did something very exciting, which was I took food photos for my old boss at Valleyfair, Luis. Now, Luis is working for Lancer Hospitality, and I was basically shooting photos of a bunch of food that is gonna be at the state fair. There were egg rolls stuffed with pizza and little charcuterie boards. Honestly the food looked pretty good, and I didn’t eat any of it. And I just cannot finish this without my notebook. I know for a fact I wrote down a million little things that were true about Luis’s life, my life, and what we talked about. Maybe I should just go to sleep. Ok I’ll try to make this now. I’ll just keep in the stuff I wrote last night too. Well basically I had my meds at 6:45am and then I did an appointment with Jessica. We talked about maybe trying to find a job that combines photography and Spanish. And also I realized that Annika had messaged me back about Nokomis Beach Coffee questions and I told her during the meeting that I was going on vacation and I’d get back to her when I got back. Jessica and I also did a google maps of where I’m gonna be in Florida and talked about me trying to find a yoga class. There’s one 11 minutes away, I found. I also asked her about connecting with the Brain Injury Association or something like that, and then I emailed Sarah, my case manager, who I think works with them. I just told her about the photo project and yearbook project and asked about maybe connecting with someone who I could share my photos and writing with. Then what I did is I went over to Papa’s house. I worked on the yearbook a bit and waited for it to be late enough in the day to go to Luis’s photos. Basically I got there a little before 1pm and found him a few minutes early by Lake Como. Ok now this is all from memory. There were two other guys there, Darrin and Mike, and the three of them basically told me what to do. They also talked about maybe editing some of the photos in front of crowd pictures of the state fair, and I was curious what crowd pictures. That’s why I took the picture on the right actually, because Mike was looking up examples. Oh and then after the shoot I had a brilliant talk with Luis. I even told him about feeling like I’d never work a social job again, like Valleyfair was. Luis also told me that if my job at Mississippi Market didn’t work out I could talk to him about a job. He said that if I was working with them they’d do a great job of keeping me below 20 hours a week so I can keep the benefits. While I was there my alarm also rang for “you can take your medication” and I ignored it because I didn’t have anything good to eat. I did have a bit of the Fanta they had there though. Then I went over to Papa’s house to pick up my computer and edit the photos. They basically told me that I should give them a basic edit on the same night and then work on editing some onto the background of the state fair the next day. So I did finish editing a basic cut and I emailed them to Luis, Darrin and Mike. Oh and Luis had also told me that for my payment I’d get free state fair tickets. God, doing this without my notes is hard.
