Open Door with Sean and food

June 22, 2023: Well today was an incredibly Open Door day. In the morning I took my meds at 6:50am with some yogurt, that had close to 14g of fat. Then I went over to Open Door to pick up the food we were giving out at a mobile lunch box site for kids. I was signed up to go to the St. Paul site, and I went with a guy named Paul who I didn’t get a photo with. I did learn though that he works as a nurse at Minnehaha Academy. I asked him if he knew the Cripes, and he actually did. We basically did the mobile lunch box drop offs from 10:00am to 1:30pm. Paul was driving the company van the whole time. Randomly the woman who I met the other day, Marguedy, joined us briefly. She greeted a bunch of the clients we were serving in Spanish. Honestly for a couple of the locations we went to, we were wondering if we were gonna have any clients at all. It picked up a little bit at the end. In fact, at the last location, we gave out 17 kids’ lunches. I also succeeded in having one of the meals as my lunch. I noted that I had my last bite of the hamburger at 12:05pm. Then we went back to Open Door, and I actually chose to not drive home because I also had a 4:15pm shift as a Spanish language helper, in the pantry assistant role, which is kind of my favorite. I think I very briefly saw Liz in the time I was there waiting, but we didn’t really work together today. What I did was I listened to every single one of the voice mails at Open Door, and probably answered like 15 messages. I was also able to register a new client for the Mexican lady who I had worked with yesterday, Karina. She’s their proxy, and just left a voice mail asking to set up a new client. While I was chilling at Open Door, I also had a ton of fizzy water and some Coke, which I have a picture of. Then I worked the rest of my 4:15pm shift as a translator. I got a couple new Spanish-speaking clients registered, also having made their upcoming appointments. I also decided to have my meds a little bit before the 12 hour time frame, at 5:15pm. I had it with a piece of Italian sausage they had at Open Door, for 4g of fat. I combined that with 7.33g of fat from some cheese crackers they had there too. Then when I finished my shift, it was already 7:15pm, so I could finish the last two cheese crackers out of the pack and have some corn bread too. I vaguely remember the cornbread package saying it was 9g of fat, but by that point I was free to eat anything anyways. So today I just took a photo with Sean, because I hadn’t grabbed one with Paul even though I talked to him a lot. Sean thanked me for spending the whole day with them, and said my Spanish was useful too. So I think today I just have the photo with Sean, the photo of me holding a Coke, and the photo of the 4g fat box of Italian sausage. Oh and the only other thing I should mention that I did today was that I emailed the woman from the school about when I can job shadow in the next month or so. My mom helped me with that one.
