Open Door with Pat and pics for pay Snapchat and food

April 17, 2023: Today was also very independent. First of all I did all my therapy. First I saw Jessica and then pretty much the second I finished, I saw Whitney. I admit that I ended like 5 minutes early because I knew I had to get to Open Door to take pictures today. So I did a ton of photos on this pretty independent day. Well today the first thing I did after taking my meds at 6:36am was I added the therapy portal to my home screen. Weirdly I hadn’t had that before. For breakfast I had special K with a cup of oat milk for my meds. I also after therapy figured out that the Theatre in the Round show that I’m shooting is called True West. Then I got to Open Door a few minutes early, so I probably didn’t have to leave therapy early. Got there at 12:05, when my shift started at 12:15. After I was there I was kind of paying attention to what I ate. I wrote down that I last ate other food at 11:42. Then I set the alarm for 3pm for my actual meds. What I did was with them I just had some cookies and things that I have a pic of. I did look at the nutrition facts on them though so I know it was somewhere around 10g fat for what I ate. I also talked to the volunteer Pat a ton. I took a vertical photo with her because I thought I might take another at my night photoshoot and I didn’t. Pat was great though, I told her all about the accident. Didn’t even write down what I told her but I told her a ton about the accident and my life. Oh and I also took a ton of photos at Open Door, just of volunteers working. Sean also decided that for the day I’m volunteering for the Empty Bowls event he can change me to a photographer that day too. I would definitely enjoy that more I think. What I did after Open Door was I went home and downloaded my photos and put them on my computer. Then I left with more than enough time to get to the Second Harvest Heartland shoot. At that shoot they didn’t really let me do candids that much. They had to have everyone sign a form for consent and they set up a lot of posed photos. So it wasn’t really my kind of photography but it was fine. Put my Snapchat I sent to a few people in here too. The best part of the shoot was that they gave me a serving of food to take home. It was a Somali Samosa and some chicken and rice. They also suggested the Somalian restaurant Afro Deli & Grill, so I’ll look at that in the future now for sure.
