June 28. 2023: Alright another busy day. Basically in the morning I went into Open Door at 10am to be a translator, and I actually ended up in the client support room, since it was only one guy, Ed, in there. He’s the one I took a creeper shot of. While I was in the room I also succeeded in registering a few new Spanish-speaking clients, so that was nice. There was one woman who had just arrived from Ecuador a few weeks ago. Ok, so going back, I had my meds at 6:03am with one of the beautiful 11g fat yogurts I bought the other day. Also at Open Door, I told the CEO Jason that I was wearing a shirt from my ex-boyfriend from Ecuador today, so I’m kinda glad I wore that one today. I also did two Spanish reminder calls for Ed, that he ran into when he was doing reminder calls for people’s appointments. I also totally succeeded in getting my company phone off of “do not disturb” in the client support room, so I was actually able to receive calls. Not sure why I had hard time with that the last few times. Ok now it’s the next day because I was too exhausted to finish this. Ok so I just left off with Open Door, having had a couple croissants in the break room for my “lunch.” After that I went home and chilled for a few hours and did a little Spanish messaging. Then I left to go to my Make A Wish training at the airport. It was alright, but my #1 takeaway was that I’d only be interested in doing airport greeting if I was working with Spanish-speaking families. We also figured out that I’m not getting the emails that offer assignments, and that is where I could sign up for some Spanish-speaking families. I really just clarified with the lady who was in charge, Brenda, that I’d get that soon. She said she’d try to send it to me the next morning. I also didn’t have any brilliant conversations there, so I didn’t take a posed photo with anyone. Basically we were greeting a family at the airport who was coming back from Disney World, and it was a kid who had gone through a bone marrow transplant, and was arriving on a trip back from Florida. I did tell the older leader there, Laurie, that I’d be interested in doing something with kids with cancer because I have cancer, though I did say that I’d never done Make A Wish because it happened when I was over 18. Turns out that you have to be under 18 when you sign up, but you can turn 18 before the wish is granted as long as you were under 18 when you signed up. Then I also just took a couple notes on things about the different truths about the airport. Like the fact that we were in terminal 2, which was less busy than terminal 1. Ok so basically even though I didn’t take an actual photo with anyone, I did take a Snapchat just to tell someone I was there, and that’s the photo that’s in here. The girl in the maroon leggings is Sara, who actually had to leave before the flight came because she had something going on. I was considering doing that too, but I didn’t really have anything going on so I didn’t. So yesterday the family arrived and we walked them down to baggage claim and helped them get their bags, and then connected with the “limo driver,” which is in quotes because it was called a Limo but was actually a Suburban. Then when I finished there I just got the email address to send to Gabby to reimburse my $11 parking, which I had to take a picture of and make it into a .pdf, which I did. Then I actually went over to Papa’s house afterwards. I was late taking my meds by a few minutes from the 12 hour thing, just because I was driving to his place and I figured it’d be better to take it with an actual meal at his place than with the snack I had with me. So I did that, at 6:19pm, and I had an Indian meal for dinner, as always, with some mango chutney and fat free yogurt. He also read me a chapter of The Investigator, which I took notes on like always. So that was pretty much my day yesterday. Oh and I almost forgot to add that we played a game of Canasta and I beat him worse than I’d ever done before. At the end, the scores were literally 750 to 3000, which is an insanely large gap. We joked that even though I hadn’t had the best day in the world, It had to be saved because I’d destroyed him in Canasta, even though we didn’t play to 5000.
