Mostly BeReals: Liz, Owen, Austin/Papa, and also Open Door with Sandy

June 20, 2023: Well let’s finish today on the day of. Alright, so most of my day is just BeReals I took. God bless Hannah for introducing me to that app. First of all, I got my first BeReal exactly when it went off, kind of around 9:15am, which was just a photo of the back of Liz while she was taking to Spanish-speaking clients on the phone. Basically to start off with my day, first of all I had my meds at 5:35am with a cup of yogurt for about 14g fat. I also played my morning games with Papa, like I always do. And I shuffled one of my new Canasta decks that came in the mail, and I sent a picture of it to Hannah as well. Then, well after 7:35am, I also had some of the Special K that Jodi had given me. Then I decided to leave for Open Door quite early. I left at like 8:36 for my 10am shift, and basically got there a bit after 9am. I was able to help out there a bit, just listening to and responding to the voice mails. Then I also talked to Liz a ton, the new Spanish speaking hire who was hired for the job whose posting I had translated into Spanish. I also managed to get my BeReal exactly on time, which gave me two extra posts in the day, at 9:15am. Honestly I wasn’t even really talking to Liz at the time, she was just calling back some Spanish-speaking clients, but then afterwards we did talk kind of a lot. I also got her Instagram, which she warned me was “witchy,” and I gave her mine too. She also told me she was from Morelos, México. I told her that right after my morning shift at Open Door I was gonna go volunteer at the Methodist food shelf by my house where every client only spoke Spanish. She told me I might as well just go straight there right then, then. I decided to finish my Open Door shift first instead. In the morning at Open Door, I also learned that the two volunteer greeters that day, Ron and Michelle, were actually married. Sean also told me he had some car issues, and I told him that my only car skill was knowing how to get a jump. I think I even mentioned that I’d gotten jump from my high school history teacher. Liz also told me to tell her when I left for Open Door, but I went to do that and she had tragically left the location by then, so I told the CEO Jason that I was missing out on my task. While I was there in the morning I also had a brief conversation with the woman named Sandy, who I’d had a big conversation with a few months ago. She’s the only photo in this page that isn’t a BeReal. I told her this time about my upcoming retreat in Colorado in October, during the second anniversary of my crash. I also drank a ton of coffee at Open Door, which I honestly enjoyed more having not been able to do it for a day because of the PET scan. I had it with a bunch of caramel macchiato cream too. I also had a question about some phrasing in Spanish that I was able to ask Lourdes when she came in at the end, about tiene vs. tenga in a sentence I say a lot there. Then I left Open Door a few minutes early to get to Methodist too. I got there 5 minutes late, and the boss, maybe Anna, said that it was just good to have showed up. At Methodist I had two slices of some pepperoni pizza, from their kitchen downstairs. Honestly getting free food from all the food shelves I volunteer at is part of the reason I almost never have to go shopping. I’m also pretty sure that if I ever asked for some food they’d give me some. I think I still have some zesty jalapeño triscuits that Methodist gave me the other week. Then after I finished at Methodist at like 3pm, I went home and made all of the edits that Deb had given me yesterday for my theater page on my website. For some reason the wifi wasn’t letting me upload the photos. So then I had to bring my laptop into Open Door when I went in for my afternoon shit at 4:15pm. I think I got there like 5 minutes late just because I was working on the photos so much. When I finally got them uploaded and posted to my site, I sent the link to Deb again, and asked if I was missing any edits. I was not. She said she liked the set of photos very much. I also succeeded in taking my night meds exactly 12 hours after my morning meds today! It was at 5:35pm with a microwaved Trader Joe’s meal of Fiery Chicken Curry, for 13g of fat. Today at Open Door for my afternoon shift, I basically worked the greeter desk the whole time., which was the first position I ever worked there. I worked with Vicki. So what happened after Open Door, is Papa texted me and told me he was hanging out with his teacher friend Austin at Sea Salt. So I went to Sea Salt, and it was just over two hours after I’d taken my night meds, so I could eat a bit of their food too. Papa gave me like a third of his shrimp Po’ Boy. I also had a few bites of the walleye from Austin. I also talked a bit about how even though I think financially I do qualify for food stamp, I don’t need them because I get so much free food from the food shelves I volunteer at, and also just food that pops into my life randomly. Well today, I also told the other greeter volunteer, Vicki, that it was a "good day to speak Spanish." That kind of sums it up.
