May 23, 2023: Well yesterday I totally failed at writing enough stuff down for the photo, and I didn’t even start to write it til today. So that’s the second thing I did this morning. After I had my meds 7:37am with four slices of cheese, I wrote up my whole photo of the day for the 22nd. Oh and also before I even took my meds this morning I took a shower too, my hair was a bit dirty. So anyways I also texted Sam this morning that I felt like I didn’t write down enough yesterday, and he said he can remind me of stuff. Glad I at least remembered to look up the movie we watched and he “liked” that I remembered that he told me a bunch of words. Then by the time it was like 11am, so way more than two hours after the meds, I also had a piece of toast with hot pepper raspberry preserve. I was still a touch hungry, but I think I’ll hold it til I volunteer and I’ll see if they have anything too. They did! I got there at like 12:39pm and pretty soon afterward I was directed to some pizza. It was like vegetables and pepperoni and I had two slices. I noted I’d last eaten at 12:40pm so I’m more than good to eat with my meds any time now. I’ll just wait til I’m a little hungry before my Spanish class and eat one of those Indian meals. Was considering going over to Papa’s house, but he’s not even gonna be there because he’s meeting a former student. I guess I’ll just write all this up and clean a bit. At least I had a good lunch, though I haven’t taken my BeReal yet today and kinda wanna wait til I’m with someone. Honestly going back to the food shelf, today Minnehaha Methodist Church food shelf was very, very slow. It was honestly the slowest I’ve ever seen it, though they did say they had a crazy morning. For a long time I wasn't even really speaking Spanish because there were hardly any clients. I did end up doing a little bit, and signed like one person up too, though that was in English. I had also been messaging Hannah a bit earlier and she made me consider going to the gym before Spanish and after volunteering if I couldn’t hang out with her, but then I realized I didn’t really have enough time, since I have to eat dinner too. What I’m gonna do is I’m gonna go for one of the Indian food Trader Joe’s meals I bought with mom the other day, and I just feel fortunate to actually have some of them at my house now and not be forced to go to Papa’s to eat them. Then when I was leaving Minnehaha I talked a bit to the woman Cathy who makes the volunteer schedules and is in charge in some way. I told her all about this project, and said that I usually like to take a photo of good moments in my day. I also told her it started as just a thing to help my memory , but now I really like it and think I’ll look back on it and be quite glad I did it. Then I decided to do my meds at 5pm with some Lamb Vindaloo with a little taken out, tragically with no mango chutney. I also wrote a little bit of this photo, and then I went to Spanish class. I was really intending on taking my BeReal with someone from class, but I had the best class ever and didn’t ask for a single pic with anyone. Basically in the first class no one else showed up, so it was just me and the teacher, Atala. I have no clue what we talked about, but it was basically everything, including how much I like to work, that I’m on disability and can’t work much now, and worked holidays with no extra pay at Fogo. I also succeeded in asking her the words for playing card games, that Hannah and I were wondering about. I figured out shuffle, deck of cards, to deal, individual cards, all of which will be very useful for playing card games with Hannah in Spanish. I also asked her about “no manches,” and she literally told me that it could mean a lot of things, and to ask Sam, because a Mexican would know better than a Guatemalan. Also told her the thing about the occupational therapist speaking Spanish with me in the hospital. Then the second class was way more amazing. There were only three of us there, and Atala said it’s often a low number of people in the later classes. It was two girls, I think Mandy and someone who’s name I literally just forgot. For them I also told them all about the TBI and also the cancer, and I so so so wanted to take a photo with one of them. I wasn’t able to. The most I have is pictures of the table while we had our “dinner.” I even asked how to best say in Spanish “I wish I hadn’t eaten dinner before I came.” Would have been amazing to get some tacos, or tortas, for my whole dinner. Especially since Atala went ahead and paid for all of us, even though some people argued. I think the one I chose was the chipotle de camarón, and I got it with Chile de Arbol salsa, which said it was spicy. Funny enough it was spicy, but I really think the Salsa de Aguacate a different girl got was quite hotter, and I had a few chips with her salsa too, which she offered me. Anyways, it was basically the best Spanish class I’ve had and I’m pissed I didn’t write down everything perfectly again, or get a single photo, which I really could have done because I’d already told both the girls about the TBI. At least I had the photo of the menu, which also helped me remember the name of the food I ordered.
