April 25, 2023: Alright then today I did a lot. I need to write through it all to figure out what it actually was. Well this morning I had my meds quite early just so I could take them earlier in the night too, but then I messed that up. So I had my morning meds at 5:07am with a glass of oat milk and two cheese slices for about 10g of fat. I also realized I was low on oat milk so I drove over to Oxendales to get some more, and then when I got back I immediately realized I had still had had one before I went. I even texted Papa about doing that, and we talked about how good it was that oat milk basically never goes bad. That would have been a disaster with regular milk. Then I went into Open Door and I actually had a great time there this morning. There weren’t that many people to translate for, but I did do one group that was two women. I also asked how to say cranberry in Spanish and the guy told me it was just cranberry. I also talked to the volunteer Sandy quite a bit again, and she even said that she really wanted to get my number, and told me to try to “never say never” and not let negative thoughts overwhelm me. That was a really good point in my day, though I didn’t get a picture with her this time. Oh and I also talked to Mikkel the communications person who had seen and liked my photos. She offered to show me the Open Door camera too, so then she took me back into the office and showed me it, which is what I have a photo of. During that time the woman at the next desk over was Lisa, who thanked me for offering to take photos at the Open Bowls event on Saturday, and she said that I can just send Mikell the photos on a Flickr link. So it’s good I asked about that. When I was getting Mikell’s number she said that most people get the spelling wrong. Then I decided I’d used enough time to just go straight to eat then the movie. So what I did was I grabbed some food at the café that Jodi had suggested, 5 star café. It turned out to be Ethiopian, which I hadn’t known. What I got was the kinche, which is kind of like a cross between rice and oatmeal. I don’t know what the meat was in there but it was really good. The movie was alright, though I did miss the first 10 minutes because I was getting back from the food place, so there was a bit that I didn’t understand perfectly. Afterwards I introduced the receptionist Hannah who I always talk to to Jodi and Grandma. What happened next is I totally forgot I had the Spanish classes at night. So I literally went home and took my bra off ready for sleep, and then when I was texting a guy from Tandem in Spanish about what I was doing today, I remembered the class. So then I put my clothes back on and went to the class, and I was half an hour early but it was good because I talked to the teacher Atala the whole time. She also told me how to say TBI in Spanish. Said she’d go for contusión cerebral. I also asked her about some words in some stupid vulgar messages I’d gotten on Tandem. She also asked me if the therapy after the accident had lasted years, and I told her it hadn’t been years, and was in fact just October 23, 2021. Oh and then during that first class I actually had my meds with a granola bar with about 12g fat. I realized I had forgotten to have it at 5:07pm tonight, so I just had it at 6:33pm. I randomly remembered it in the middle of the first Spanish class, and I’m not even sure why. An hour or so off of 12 hours perfectly is just as well too. Oh and the other interesting thing is that in the conversation class, aka the second one, I had forgotten that she had asked us to bring a book/song/article of something Latino. So I thought I had nothing, and then when one other girl used a book I remembered that I still had a Spanish book in my bag. I literally had the book of phrases and slang from different countries that Jodi had given me. So that book actually ended up being a very positive influence in the class, even though I didn’t bring it on purpose, just because it started conversations about slang in different countries, like the different words they use to say “cool” in Mexico vs. Ecuador vs. Guatemala, things like that. So I didn’t bring it on purpose but it kinda worked out for the better that I just had that book with me. Oh and I’m just adding this the next day, but I also set up an interview for Mississippi Market the next day right after the movie in a text with Rae.
