Methodist tracking, Breakfast w/ Jodi/Bill + Isa, Spanish Meet, Bocce, Yahtzee

August 26, 2023:

Alright a ton happened today. I admit that I relied on Jodi and Bill a lot for social stimulation. Well first thing in the morning I took my meds at 6am with some mango and banana yogurt. Then, I went to Methodist a little past 7am to help out with their Saturday morning food distribution. I was assisting a woman named Deanna who was helping to get everyone situated, and I actually held the clipboard and counted the numbers of people who came the whole time. I know Deanna told me I was very helpful, and that she would have had an impossible time communicating with the Spanish-speaking clients without me. I also told her about this project and said that I do it because my memory is quite bad because of the TBI, and she said she’d be happy to be in my blog.

Right after I finished at Methodist, at like 9:45, I walked to Jodi and Bill’s house, after I checked on Find My Friends that someone was there. I also told them that I had a Spanish meetup at 11am, but that people don’t get there til 12pm, so I had a little time. That’s when they decided to take me out to breakfast/lunch. We went to The High Hat, which I’d never been to before. When we were there, I got the Lavender Haze latte and also the AlohA Parfait, which was a “papaya bowl.” It had some granola and yogurt and other fruits. When we finished, Jodi also made some comment that our server had an accent and wondered where she was from. I hadn’t noticed the accent, but Jodi asked her where she was from anyways. I was shocked when she said she was from Spain. Her name was Isa, short for Isabel. Then when she came around the next time, I spoke to her in Spanish and asked her which part she was from. She is from Madrid. The photo I have in here is actually of me talking to her, which was a creeper shot that Jodi took. Funny enough, when I was there I was still wearing my “yo habo español” pin from my time at Methodist.

After we finished and paid there, Jodi and Bill actually drove me to my Spanish meetup because it would have taken much more time to go home and then drive the 20 minutes there from where we live. At the Spanish meet, I didn’t really ever ask people for a photo. I just took a BeReal when I was sitting at the table. The interesting thing is that we talked about how to say “fanny pack” in Spanish, and it looks like a lot of countries call it a cangurera, which is literally like a kangaroo’s pouch or waist bag. We also talked a bit about how to say fidget spinners, which was relevant because I’d just gotten one from Jodi. The only kinda disappointing thing about the meet was that there were no other girls there today, which just made me feel a little alone.

Then, mom picked me up from there since I didn’t have a car with me, and she brought me on some errands that she had to run. She ran by target to pick up some laundry detergent and food, and also Trader Joe’s to get some other food items. Then she brought me to her house for a few minutes, where we actually played a few rounds of a Canasta game together. Then she took me home, and when it was like 4pm, I went back to Jodi’s house because we were gonna do a dinner and bocce ball session. In preparation, I had my meds at 4:34pm with half an avocado and cottage cheese. I’d been considering waiting til 5, but decided earlier just so I wouldn’t have to wait to eat.

Then, what we did for the next few hours is me, Jodi, Bill and Papa also walked over to a park to play Bocce ball. We decided to break up the teams by gender, so I was partners with Jodi, and Papa and Bill were together. We played two games to like 21 points, and I think that the men won both of them. Then, after we played the games, we walked back to Jodi’s house and finished preparing dinner, which was salmon and corn and potatoes. Funny enough, I hadn’t even had to take my meds so early, because we didn’t even eat until past 7pm. The corn was very good. Then, after we finished, we played two games of Yahtzee too. I won the first one, and someone else won the second. Around that time we also had our dessert, which was ice cram bars. I had a dulce de leche gelato bar. Good that I had my meds before dinner because it would have been annoying to try to track exactly when I finished the ice cream bar.

My BeReal for today also went off at exactly 9pm today, and I got it on time, so two extra posts. Unfortunately, my phone was having this issue it’s been having for a day or two where it only focuses properly if I’m zoomed out all the way, and otherwise it isn’t able to be in focus at all. Earlier in the night, Papa and I had googled the issue a ton, and none of the proposed solutions worked. So that’s why my last photo of the night is blurry.

Grateful things: Grateful that I live so close to Jodi’s house and can walk there whenever I feel like it. Grateful I can talk to people I don’t know in Spanish, like our server at High Hat. Grateful for the very good shower I was able to have tonight, and also for the colorful pants and red dangly earrings that Jodi gave me from a garage sale.
