Hannah: Sushi and Canasta

May 8, 2023: Another really good day. I totally failed to do this last night and didn’t even do the photos. I guess now I’m just gonna figure out what I did yesterday. So I had my meds at 8am with avocado toast and yogurt and fruit, and also had some coffee and oat milk. When I first woke up at 4:13am I just put the blue gel with lidocaine on the sunburn. I also texted myself that my sunburn hurt a ton and thought that I had been right that it would hurt worse the next day. Then I also had a good time with Hannah. I re-read some of my journal to her, the one that I had been writing really small in because I wanted to be a server by the time I finished it, and I read Hannah the sections about wanting to drive with a license, and I also highlighted a bunch of meaningful statements I found in there with yellow highlighter. That’ll make it easier to go though in the future too. I said “life would be better if I could drive.” I told Hannah that, and she said, “Who would have thought that your mom would be signing you onto a rental car?” That also happened yesterday too. Basically, Hannah and I went with mom to be added onto the rental car, and Hannah had a temporary license because hers expired, so she couldn’t be signed on. I could though. Then I drove all of us back from the car place to the condo. In the journal I was talking about, I highlighted some sections where I talked about meeting guys from Tinder too. We also decided that mom would drive me and Hannah to a brewery after she finished with work calls in the afternoon. Then Hannah and I took a long walk. We walked down the beach to this restaurant called Asian Fusion, which I just remembered without notes, and we got sushi. I asked what was spicy and they recommended the volcano or red dragon rolls, and I got the red dragon with spicy tuna. Hannah got the Tokyo roll, with salmon and volcano topping, whatever that is. At Red Dragon, I took Hannah’s ginger and she took my wasabi, so we’re a good pair for eating sushi. I noted that I last ate at 1:12pm, and then we walked back on the highway not the beach because I had to be in socks to protect my sunburn, and when we got there it was already basically two hours after, so I had my “night” meds at 3:12pm with oat milk and one of the bars that mom had bought, an olyra greek yogurt sandwich breakfast biscuit for 10g of fat. Then something amazingly interesting happened. For months and months I’ve been wanting to see the video of the accident from Reign security cameras, and yesterday mom showed it to me on her laptop. I learned that I was hit from the right side actually, which I hadn’t known. Basically I was just walking like three steps ahead of Justin and Natalie, and they chased after me when I was hit. Also saw the fact that the guy had ran a red light before he hit me, even though the light that he was heading towards was green. Then Hannah took a brief swim, which I didn’t do because of the awful sunburn, and we decided to go to Sailfish Brewery. Basically mom finished her work calls a bit after 3pm, and before we even got there it had been two hours since I took my meds. At the brewery, I noted that our server was named Russ and had red hair and tattoos. The first thing I got was the Elderberry Cucumber sour, and then I got a flight just so I could do the thing I do at Burning Brothers where I try a bunch of beers without having too much. Unlike Burning Brothers, this place did a fantastic job of telling me which one was which. I wrote the beers down to make my order, and then I kept the sheet of paper and took a picture of it too. I got the White Merlin Wit, Iguana Sauce (the other sour), Fish Stories (with lactose) and Don’t Poke the Bear (with honey). Hannah and I also played a great game of Canasta at the brewery. We noted that it was better to play Canasta when you actually have room to lay out all the cards. She also took a picture of the light shining through my blister so it was almost glowing. Speaking of the burns, our server Russ commented on the burning right away and said that he burns all the time too, and told me to drink the pain away. At the brewery, Hannah and I had a great time. I even asked her why she wants to have kids, and she wants to carry on another generation of the Hoefs family. Around the time of that conversation, we also ordered the pretzels & beer cheese for $10. It came with two sauces, the beer cheese and the spicy mustard. I didn’t like the spicy mustard, which I knew I wouldn’t, so Hannah had that and I had the beer cheese. When we were leaving, Hannah also bought a segura viuda cava white wine, and I had a sip of it. Then Hannah and I were picked up by my mom, which Hannah said was convenient because it meant she could have more to drink that way. Then mom took us home and we watched a movie. It was Somebody I Used to Know, and it was about a girl meeting up with her ex-boyfriend and his new fiancé, and watching it really made me think about how much I miss watching movies with Hannah. We had popcorn too, which was a great end to a good day.
