May 9, 2023: Yet another fairly good day so far. We’ll see how it ends. Just gonna get the photos in now at a little after 6pm. I think I’m gonna organize my stuff and work on the yearbook for the rest of the day. Meds at 6:39pm. Funny how I literally had 21 pages of notes the other day when I was taking notes on No Manches Frida, and today I only had 6. So to start with the notes, had my morning meds at 7:32am with yogurt and fruit and coffee with extra oat milk. There weren’t any avocados, unfortunately, so I heated up half an English muffin that I actually didn’t end up eating because it only had 1g of fat and I was full from the yogurt and berries. I also told my mom about the Argentinian guy I’ve been chatting with, and she basically told me to try not to start a fake “relationship” with someone who I’m never gonna meet. I completely agree, honestly. I told him what she said too, and he told me to be optimistic about seeing each other in December. Like I’d do it if he came, but I’m not flying anywhere, I know. I also typed up yesterday’s photo this morning pretty early. Then when I was in the bathroom one of my big blisters on my arm popped, and I changed my shirt. After all that, Hannah and I went to the Desert Botanical Garden. I wasn’t expecting to really like it, but honestly it was very fun and I took a million photos. Not just these ones. You know, I’m too tired. I’ll finish this tomorrow. Alright it’s tomorrow. Basically what happened is Hannah and I went to the Desert Botanical Garden and we had an amazing time. The other really cool thing is that we spoke Spanish there a ton. It wasn’t like we didn’t utter a word of English, but pretty much everything was Spanish. We looked up the words for water lily, podcast, dragonfly, acorn, squirrel, leaf, oyster and root, and I just screenshotted them on my phone so I’d know what we looked up. We signed the visitors register and I wrote “bueno para las fotos.” We also did my Spanish homework for Atala. I just wrote it down in a notebook page to type up later. It was asking about what a beautiful woman looks like, and I wonderfully got to ask Hannah, who likes women, what she sees in a beautiful woman. Hannah also sketched some tropical plants, and we had a beautiful conversation with a park worker named Ron McMillan. We told him about the Spanish and he said that his daughter is studying Swedish. I told him I’m a Spanish translator volunteer. I also told Hannah that if not for her being there I would have definitely asked for a photo with him too, but I have more than enough photos so it’s alright. Then Hannah and I stopped at the cafeteria before the gift shop, which I said we should do in that order because I needed to take my meds and didn’t want it to be too late in the day. We were afraid the restaurant would be too expensive, but it wasn’t. We both got sandwiches. I asked for the cubano panini but they didn’t have any left, it so I got the club wrapped bacon. Hannah got the tuna salad sandwich. Oh and around this time I also told Hannah that Spanish words that end in -a are masculine when they come from Greek, which I learned in a podcast I was listening to, and hadn’t known before. She thought that was interesting. Then we went to the garden gift store, and I asked if they had shot glasses or fanny packs and they didn’t. After that, I drove us to Sailfish where I went yesterday with Hannah to see if they had my green flannel. They didn’t, but the guy who was working, Chad I think, said that our server Russ was a little bit newer so maybe he found it and put it somewhere random that they don’t usually. Didn’t know that about Russ from the day before either. Good thing I remembered his name. Hannah also got a 6 pack of the Sunrise City IPA from Sailfish. When she got them, I joked that I should drink one on the way home. Then we walked to a store called Loggia to look for Mother’s Day presents for Hannah’s mom and grandma. I asked if they had shot glasses or fanny packs and they didn’t. It was also a bit expensive so we didn’t get anything. Then we walked down to the next store, which was actually a souvenir store called Corey’s. There I got a shot glass, and it was actually better than the one of mine that broke. I have a picture of it here. Then we drove back to the condo and Hannah went for a swim on the beach and I stayed inside because I have the horrible sunburn. Honestly I haven’t even been in the beach water yet, though I have been in the pool. While I was inside, I actually applied for a job with mom’s help at Seward Co-op, which is right by Sabathani, and also set up three job notification emails for Spanish, grocery stores and photography jobs. Seward is also right by Hannah’s house, which is a huge huge plus. Oh and mom also gave me a hair trim, which she desperately wanted to do because my ends were a tragedy. Oh well, Hannah agreed they were bad too, so it wasn’t just something my mom thought. Funny enough I didn’t write down anything we did while Hannah was swimming, but there’s no way I’d forget it. The next thing I have written after the Corey’s thing was that I had my meds at 6:39pm, with a salad that Hannah made when she finished swimming. The salad had cucumbers, lettuce, onions, artichokes, pepperoncini, onions, basically just stuff she found in the fridge here. Then to get the fat count high enough, mom made me add a hard boiled egg to it. It was actually an alright add. After dinner, I put on mom’s stretch pant sweatpant-like things because I hadn’t brought sweatpants, even though I wish I did. Also wish I brought fuzzy socks. Also after dinner I showed Hannah the pictures that I’d chosen for my photo of the day, and I decided to put the new shot glass I’d bought in the inner pocket of my suitcase so it doesn’t break. I also typed up all the Spanish homework notes from earlier in the day. Unfortunately, I realized I don’t actually have an email for my teacher Atala even though she told me to email it to her. I should have asked her for one. Oh well, I at least have the .pdf all ready. We also decided that I’ll look for a fanny pack when we go to the airport on the way back, because the souvenir store didn’t have one even though I asked. During that time my alarm rang for being able to eat again after two hours from the medication, and I told that to Hannah when she was inside too. Then we decided to watch a movie and have popcorn. The movie we watched was The Nice Guys. It was good, though I admit that during the movie I also texted the guy, Adolfo, who I had the first Spanish conversation I’d ever had with, which was when I was visiting Hannah in LA and ran into two Chileans on the beach. I learned that the guy’s friend who he was with was named Lorenzo, which I hadn’t known. I don’t think I followed his friend on Instagram, though. Adolfo told me I had a good memory because I remembered him from six or seven years ago. Outta space now too.
