September 14, 2023: Alright, trying to start a tiny bit early today. I took my meds at 7:02 this morning with an apricot mango yogurt for 11g of fat. Then I went straight in to HCMC to meet up with Dr. Tonkin. I remember I asked him if it was alright to list him as my “primary care doctor” when places ask me, and he said that it was. I also told him about the new job search that I would have to start with mom soon, and he said that my issues from the TBI were memory and “executive function,” which he tried to explain. He also told me he might give me $5 if I was still as unhappy as I currently am by the month of November, too, when he next sees me. So now, to make $5, I’ve just gotta depress myself even worse. After that, Papa and I stopped into Trader Joe’s to buy some of the yogurt that I like a bit more than the other ones, which are the kind I had this morning. I like having the two smaller cups of 6g of fat each better, since they’re sweeter and less sour. We also picked up some noodles that had the right fat count for taking with my meds. After that, I went home and it was time for me to do my therapy session. After that, for our lunch, Papa picked us up some Lebanese food from Zakia Lebanese Deli. We had falafel sandwiches and grape leaves, and also a bit of spinach pie, which wasn’t sweet. Then, several hours later, Hannah came over and we ate dinner, which I took my meds with, and then we had a nice game night with me, Talia, her and Papa. To start with, the dinner was tortellini salad and bread. Tragically I didn’t write it down and I forgot it, but I had my dad remind me. It was some of the stuff we picked up at Trader Joe’s today, and I didn’t count the grams of fat exactly. I know I was close though, and I took the meds with it at 6:11pm. And then, we decided to try playing four-person Canasta, since I’d taught Talia the other day for the first time. In Canasta, I’m pretty sure that Talia and Papa won, and mine and Hannah’s team lost. We didn’t even get to 5000, so it wasn’t close at all. Afterwards, we played a game of four-person Blokus too, and no one person went out. Talia and I tied for first place, with 7 pieces left. Then, Hannah said that she had to work tomorrow morning and had to get going, so we bid farewell. Oh, and then after she left I was going through my phone a bit, and I actually decided to nominate Open Door for the Dakota county non-profit of the year award from the Dakota County Chamber of Commerce, in response to one of Mikell’s emails, which gave me the link.
Didn’t take a photo of us eating, but I did take a photo of the best part of my day, which was playing cards with Hannah and family. I'm sure it's also what I'm grateful for today.
