October 26, 2023:
Ok, the day is over and I'll start now. Today I had my meds at 8:30am with egg and avocado toast. We had another silent breakfast today, and this one was a little more difficult since I wanted to talk to the people quite a bit. Then, we went to a yoga session, and on the way there I handed out more business cards. I should have brought more of those with me.
During yoga, I didn’t have any groundbreaking thoughts, but I did think that with a TBI you don’t need to let go or everything in your old life, you just have to accept where you are and continue to enjoy things. I forget if someone told me that, but it was definitely a thought.
After yoga, we went to go to our group sessions, and I had a really hard time deciding between intimacy and dating. I asked, and ended up choosing dating because it seemed like intimacy was more for people already in relationships. I took a bunch of notes there that are in a bigger notebook that I’m not gonna look at right now. Basically, I made the right choice with choosing the dating session over intimacy, because it was also about meeting new people in general.
Then, we had lunch, which was chicken curry on pita with veggie straws. Around then, I also took my photo of the day with the chef Randy, mainly because what he’s done this week with calculating my fat counts has been amazing. And then I walked back to the cabin a bit and ended up having a great convo with the Jessica who is not my occupational therapist, lol. I showed her my The Story of my Life journal, and how I’d worked on filling out all the ages 1-5, 6-10, 11-15 sections. Then we decided to try to create some goals for the 26-30 and the 36-40 years old as well.
After that, I went back and we worked on our masks, which actually involved telling the group the meaning behind the way you painted it. Anyways, then I got some people’s numbers and got ready for dinner. There’s a lot more in here that I’m not narrating lol. I just like to have it all written down, kind of because I was trained as a journalist. That was one very important thought that occurred to me today.
Then we ate dinner, which was some kind of Indian food and a salad. It looked like it had a lot of fat, but Randy told me it didn’t, so I crumbled two spoons of feta cheese on it too. Meds at 6:50pm. Then, I picked up my med box to take home tomorrow, and we got ready for the talent show. The talent show was really cool. A lotta very different things. Definitely not gonna try to list everyone. Personally, I showed this blog. Hello, anyone who’s reading this because of that!
Grateful: For the fact I can still use my journalist training here. Also grateful for everyone I’ve been able to talk to and connect with here.
