Coffee Shop! Makeup, papa w/ Rosie, photo for gift, salad, coffee

December 17, 2023

WELL I had a fantastic day today. In the morning when I woke up, I was thinking stuff like, “oh crap not much scheduled for today.” And then I got the idea to go to a coffee shop. Anyways, lemme jump back to the very beginning of my notes. Kinda funny that one of the first things that happend to today was a message with Uma from Fogo on whether Portuguese had a word like “ahorita” in Spanish. That’s relevant because of how much time I spent on Portuguese later in the day, at the coffee shop.

So, I had my med at 8:15 this morning with two eggs. I also sent Hannah pictures of all the presents I got my family so far, and told her that I only bought presents for family. "But, I consider you, Craoline and Liam to be family too, in a way," so I did it for them too. I’d already told Liam that, but this was the first time telling Hannah. From Hannah, I ALSO learned that someone with my mom’s name had a Nolo’s reservation today. I didn’t think it was her at first becaue it was spelled Kelley not Kelly, but then she checked the phone number and it was her!

This morning, I also had the vaguely important thought that: Before, I was literally thinking that "every person with a more 'normal' life had achieved something that I would neer be able to achieve." I also decided that 2023 has been  “year of growth” for me. Moving forward, I filled out my January page on the 2024 calendar I recently bought at Half Price, and got the idea that 2024 might be a really good year for me. While I filled out that one page, I also did my Open Door translator signups, tho later I had to delete one of them for a TBI support group.

Anyways, then Papa and I drove over to FRGMNT Coffee, which is very close to Fogo, actually. There, I was able to get an AMAZING salad for my lunch, a “prosciutto & pistaachio salad,” with a vinaigrette too. Honestly, it was much better food than I’d usually expect from a coffee shop, which often will just have sweets. That’a huge part of the reason that I wrote down that this might be my new favorite coffee shop. That was also because they had chairs that worked perfectly with my back problems from from the recent surgery.

At the coffee shop, I organized all my bags and backpacks and notes, and learned a lot of Spanish and Portuguese too. There’s one guy who I'm messaging exclusively in Portuguese, and I talked to for him half the day. Frankly, it just reminds me of how much I loved the beginning of learning Spanish. I’m still at the point in Portuguese where I’m taking pages of notes on how to express things that I say frequently. Currently I’ve got two very well-used Google docs: “random Spanish notes,” and “random Portuguese notes.” I also find it easier to translate from Spanish into Portuguese than to translate from English, just because they’re so similar.

After we spent several wonderful hours at the coffee shop, we popped over to Trader Joe’s, where I stayed in the car while he ran in, and then we popped over to my apartment to pick up this one thin black Zebra pen I wanted a lot, and also a single “claw" or “butterfly" clip for my hair that's a lot bigger and more useful than the ones I have at his house now.

Anyways, I also had the thought that I should take my Google doc notes on other languages using their bullet point function, and that pics from the app “RAW” are useful for capturing random moments in your day. That’s the app that was advertised to me as a dating app, but it’s really people from all across the country, so definitely not a dating app. I just like it because it takes pictues like BeReal does, showing a shot from the front and back of the camera at the same time.

Ok, I’m finishing this pretty much right at midnight, lol. The other random thing I did today was I googled if there was an app for tracking package deliveries. There’s one called “Route,” and I think it will be quite useful.
