October 1, 2023:
Meds at 7:20am this morning, but I’m not writing the rest of this today. Too tired. I have the photos and the grateful thing though.
Ok I'll continue it. So I had my meds with mango and peaches&cream yogurts, and also a Zofran because I felt a bit nauseous. We also decided to not go to the event we were had been planning on because it was like an hour away and would have involved being outdoors in the sun, and I had a bit of a headache.
Then, I played a round of Canasta with my parents, in an attempt to wake myself up, and it kind of worked. After that, mom and I went back to my house and I printed out all of my photos from the last week or so to put in my binder. I also dropped off my notebook #11 on my shelf in my room, and plucked my eyebrows a bit. Then I did my weekly calendar whiteboard, even though I'm not really living there now, because just writing it all out helps me to find potential issues. I'm glad I did it, since I found a time that I should volunteer at Open Door on Tuesday night, and we set up a time to maybe do brunch with Talia on Saturday. At home, we also got my arts kit that had just been delivered, for a Zoom arts program I'm going to be doing with the group for people with rare diseases. The other interesting thing was that my building's apartment manager KC was cleaning out the room across from mine, a two-bedroom that people just moved out of, and he let us come in and look at it. We really liked it, even though I'm not in the market for a two bedroom at the current moment.
Then, we dropped the art kit off at Papa's house and I told him that my actual goal now was to have a life that is not controlled by medical issues. Then, we went back to mom's house and I laid down for like an hour in bed to get rid of the headache. I didn't feel quite up to taking the "photo walk" we'd been talking about. Then, mom and I went to pick up Deb to go to the movie night thing. We picked her up, and realized it was actually an hour later than she'd thought, so we had time to stop in to El Jefe down by the river. I had the Jefe Agua Fresca, and they had drinks. We also shared a bowl of ceviche with extra tostadas for me to eat. Deb also said that I should reach out to the brain injury alliance communications team to tell them how I've used photography to document my recovery.
Speaking of photography, I did the project where I tried to take a photo of an emotion, but I didn't have my camera so I didn't really do it. Yesterday's word was "busy," which is a fairly easy one compared to many options. Still didn't put it in a pdf. Before the movie, I also told Deb about BeReal, and she really liked the idea of it, especially the incentives to take a picture of whatever's in front of you the instant it goes off. At the movie, we sat under the 3rd avenue bridge and watched the first shorter movie, that was called VHS Tape Replaced, and then we started the second one, called A Gaza Weekend. That one, we didn't stay to the end of because it was getting a bit late, and even though I was wearing sunglasses, my head hurt a bit. Then, we went to pick up my stuff at mom's house, and I also worked on the jigsaw puzzle a bit, which was nice. After that, we drove back to Papa's house and I went to sleep a bit after midnight.
Grateful things: I’m grateful for sunglasses, which allow me to at least kind of attempt to live my life normally. I wore the sunglasses literally the entire day today, even at night and indoors.
