Book Club, Pepsi and Open Door with Anita

June 1, 2023: Alright I didn’t do any of this ahead of time. Guess I’ll discover what I did today now. It was actually a pretty good day. Today, since it was June 01, I started my new black hard cover notebook. I also took my meds with some oat milk at 5:30am, and then well after 7:30am I also had some yogurt and granola. The other interesting thing this morning was I turned on the AC for the first time of the summer. I also had to check in for my Jessica appointment on my phone because my computer was restarting. Well basically this morning, I did a TON of therapy. First I met with Jessica, and the really interesting thing was I was talking to her about finding things to do with my time, and she suggested a book club since I used to like to read a lot. I googled how to find one, and it told me to ask book store employees and try the library. So I asked the book store employee, Talia, and she knew nothing. But then after my Whitney appointment (where I also scheduled an extra appointment to go over my yearbook) I walked over to the library a block away and they actually really helped me. They told me about a sci-fi book club and a mystery book club. That’s what I took the picture on the left for, because I was sending Sam a photo of the book they gave me. I read almost a chapter of it already. It claims to be sci-fi but feels a little more Western. Then after I read for a few hours, during which time I also had my lunch, which was leftover El Jefe pizza from that time at Bull’s Horn with Sam, it was time for me to go into Open Door. I purposely brought a microwave meal for my 9-14g fat to take my meds. I intended on doing it at 5:30 like my morning ones, but at 5:30pm I was busy helping a Spanish-speaking client, so I had to wait til 5:53pm, when I could heat up the bowl and eat it and take my meds. I also grabbed another Pepsi right then, which was the middle photo too, another one I sent Sam, for obvious reasons. Oh and then a bit later I actually did manage to take a photo with another volunteer, Anita. We talked a decent amount. We talked about our names and how Anita is almost a diminutive nickname for Anya in Spanish, and also about her old job, where she was an engineer. At Open Door, she started much more recently than I did, and I still remember her first day. Funny enough today there was another new volunteer, named Elijah, who was actually a high school student completing his National Honor Society volunteering. I did mention to him that I’m pretty sure I did National Honor Society in high school, and don’t remember having to do any volunteering for it. Oh and the last thing I have written down was that the volunteer Sylvia gave me the code to put in the phones to access more voicemails, because it always seemed that I was accessing less of them than some people. Glad I’ve got that now.
