September 10, 2023: Alright so today wasn’t that good. I woke up and took my meds at 5:08am with the Häagen-Dazs yogurts, and frankly I felt a bit nauseous even at that time. During the day, I literally just laid in bed and bemoaned how badly this surgery recovery is going. I also had a fever all day, that reached like 101.5. Then, we called Mayo Clinic to ask their advice about things, and they said that I had to go in to get checked. They said that we could do it in the Twin Cities, but we just don’t trust these hospitals as much as Mayo, which knows my whole medical history. The one really nice part of the day was that I ran into doctors who were Brazilian and Portuguese speaking. I told them the one thing I know how to say in Portuguese, which is “eu tenho um traumatismo craniano.” It means, “I have a traumatic brain injury”. In a way, running into those doctors was the best part of my day, which is why I took a picture of them from the hospital bed. The other photo I have in the room is just one that tells me the doctors’ names. One of them was David and the other one was Bo, who wasn’t a native Portuguese speaker, but he did speak a bunch of other languages, which we also talked about. I’m sure I’m missing a lot in my day here. Oh, the other thing is that we decided I’d take my night meds after I left the hospital at 8:12pm with a cheeseburger with 13g fat and a shake with .5 fat. Unfortunately, I was feeling quite nauseous again, and as soon as I took the medecine I threw it up. I have a photo of that too, which I just sent to my dad, but I obviously don’t wanna put that in here. I definitely did throw up the medication, but we just decided to skip this one. I ended up still drinking the shake, so I guess that was my dinner.
To be grateful for: Grateful for Mayo Clinic being in the state, though I'm also grateful that they didn't feel the need to keep me overnight this time.
