Feb. 8, 2023: Well today was insane. I thought that I’d go to Mayo Clinic and sleep over for the sleep study but in fact they said they’d just give me a monitor to wear to sleep and bring back tomorrow. I also decided that today would be a good day where I actually care about things so I took notes all day. We still decided to spend the night at Anh’s house, a place where I’ve stayed before with mom. We did see her when we stopped in, just briefly. She said that she recently bought four homes and is on the bioethics community at Mayo. I also wrote down the code to get in her house. The other interesting thing was that today we met Dr. Go, my hematologist. We also did a blood test for me and shockingly the person got me on the first stick, though she did go at at a different place than usual in my left arm. Papa said he was surprised she got me on the first stick, since usually I’m very hard to draw blood from. Before leaving home I also had my meds at 6:03. I’ll also have my night meds at 4:00pm, so we can go out to a noodle place called First Meeting Noodle for dinner. We talked to Dr. Go about my medication stuff too, because in a few months it’s going to change so I won’t have to fast anymore because the dosage is changing. So in the future I’m supposed to eat food with the morning med, just like a yogurt or something. I also asked Papa when I’d be allowed to drive to Mayo Clinic alone again and he said maybe soon. I also bought Beach Read at a U of M store in Rochester because I hadn’t brought any books to read. Honestly I found it a little more confusing than the last time I read it. I’m sure that’s because of the brain injury, I’m also taking notes in the physical book too. Dr. Go also said that I was definitely improving, said that driving is a huge improvement and really thinks that I’m making a ton of progress from June until now. and I told him I’m interviewing on Thursday for a grocery store position. He also asked about my photography and he said that he’d seen my website years ago. I also succeeded in asking Dr. Go about the pap smear and the med time. I had to text mom to remember the pap smear question though. After I talked to him I also messaged Caroline a few of my questions and she confirmed the tests look good, assuming I’m on the crazy cancer medication and that might push up a few values. Dr. Go did say that I should have a light snack before the new med dosage, but no big meals, basically something that provides 11-14 grams of fat in the morning. For lunch we ate at Yum!Poke and I had the tuna lover bowl because it was raw and a little spicier, and we paid for mine with my bank trust card. I also just took my night meds at 4pm with coffee from this morning. Papa’s also getting some playing cards for us tonight and then we’re going to eat from First Meeting Noodle after 5. Because the new medication that starts in about two months probably won’t include any fasting but now it does still include fasting. Papa also asked me to start a project that is just random photos I take. I’ve taken a bunch already but they’re not any good and also I’m not putting them in this project. Tonight we played a couple phases of phase 10 that I found online, not putting down what they were. I just had a pretty good call with Carla from Minnesota Brain Injury Alliance. She talked about support groups and AHRMS and the meeting in March on a Saturday from 1-4. Just went to First Meeting Noodle. We both had cold saké and I got the Mongolian beef noodles and he got the chongqing spicy noodle soup. I’ve also decided this photo of the day project is a huge help to my memory and that’s why it was such a failure yesterday when I didn’t do it on time. Today I also asked the guys who worked at First Meeting what the name was from and they said it was a translation of the Chinese word for hello. I also learned they don’t serve breakfast and open at 11am. Damn so we won’t be able to stop there for a quick bite on our way back tomorrow morning.
