SO, I Spent a whole week at Mayo recently... I had lots of tests, including brain and spine MRIs and a PET scan, as well as my first lumbar puncture in years, which didn't hurt nearly as badly as I remembered them hurting!
I also tried to complete walks every day, and one of the photos is of my mom and I during one of those walks. I also had to move rooms once because someone with a transplant needed the room I was in.
One photo shows the special IV team trying to find a vein. I do not have many good veins left!
Another photo was with a nurse who was great too.... I think that's the bottom left photo in the six I've put together here!
Another photo shows a new monitoring system which they're testing out at Mayo where you have stickers on your body and a wrist monitor that shows various bio results during the day.
The bottom right photo displays papa and I the day i was discharged.
The tests I underwent showed mixed results. Some stuff didn't really advance, but some areas showed some worsening in my brain and cervical spine. All of the tests were to try to figure out why I've been so tired and had both headaches and vomiting recently.
Photos below are of my great cancer doctor, Dr. Abeykoon, and visiting with Kurt, a volunteer and Holocaust survivor who I know well, in the Mayo cafeteria on Friday, the day I was discharged. I should also mention that after getting home from this stay, I was finally able to put together a playlist of calming rain sounds to fall asleep to.
