July 15th, 2024
Another YESTERDAY, though I'm not publishing til the 17th. On the 15th, mom and I drove down to Mayo Clinic and completed my second session of targeted radiation therapy. She also talked me through who’s gonna be going to the cabin this year, and for how much time each person/group will be there! I KNOW that I told her I was a little surprised she invited Miguel, and she said something about us both being adults, which is true!!! On the drive back from Mayo, which my mom drove for me, we got McDonald’s.... and I discovered it’s possible to order a lemonade slushy with Sprite! It’s called a “frozen lemonade” when you order, I think! Also, basically no fat!!!
When we got home, we actually received some furniture from my great aunt Kate, and her husband Ernie. I think they’re going to be used in Talia’s room. we actually also had to drive my mom home since her building had lost power in the morning, and she couldn’t access her car (she had taken an Uber in the end). Miguel drove her home in my green car since I have a car and he doesn't. And also THEN, my mom texted us and said that she’d like to treat the two of us to dinner, and if I paid on my credit card, she’d reimburse me for it. We got Chimborazo, which he’d never had before, but I obviously had! I ordered the “churrasco,” which has always been my favorite, along with a limeade. Miguel told me that Chimborazo reminded him of a restaurant from his childhood, in Xalapa, Veracruz, which apparently is called El Itacate Fonda. Tragically, I cannot remember if we took a selfie there, and i'm not sure if we did D:
Now this isn’t really about my daily diary, but I wanted to mention that I changed my phone screen background to a photo of me, Miguel, and my friend Hannah, at Art-a-whirl. I love that it shows a mix between my old life and new life, because Hannah is the girl I sat next to in 7th grade chemistry, but Miguel is 310% a post-TBI-connection!!!!! I added this again later even though I wrote the last paragraph yesterday! Well, again, I'm doing another late post from the cottage on the 17th, but this was 200% a July 15th publication. The only thing I'm thinking now is that I should check in with my mom on the Chimborazo reimbursement again! ;D OH, and I can't find a photo of us eating at Chimborazo for some reason. I've also realized around dinner time on the 18th that I accidentally duplicate posted my locker photo here, and also one of the selfies! Don't worry, I PROMISE I'll replace some photos in this post later!!! Especially since this low key was NOT a day on which I saw Jessica at all!
Alright, wrapping up what actually happened this day was that we ate my meds-meal, which was a yogurt with about 15 grams of fat that I didn't quite finish. It was either vanilla or some fruit flavored.
