JUNE 19, 2024
Well, TODAY was the best day ever, and I can’t wait to write about it! First of all, we drove down to Mayo Clinic, and I met with a physical therapist, who suggested assistive devices for my legs.... I tried on some leg braces, and I felt like they helped a TON, even though they weren’t even specially fitted to me!
Afterward, we went down to Mayo’s cafeteria, and I ordered something that I pretty much always order because it’s the BEST! It’s a Greek salad “bowl,” and I always LOVE the feta cheese, cucumbers, and olives, and the way they all combine! In addition, in my speech therapy consultation, it was decided that given my medical needs, we should cancel the “occupational assessment” I had scheduled afterward!
Anyways, then we popped over to the cafeteria..... and while we were down there, the BEST thing EVER happened! The volunteer who was wiping down our table started talking to us, and he had the most interesting story ever!!! His name was Kurt G-E (not writing the full last name here RN), and during our conversation, he showed us his tattoo from Auschwitz!!! I also took many more notes, on pretty much everything he told us... but tragically I don’t believe we acquired any reliable way to contact him again! I feel like we’ll probably see him again there sometime, especially now that we’re going every day for 10 days, OK... I’m like HALFWAY done with that! I vaguely remember a nurse making a comment I was halfway through today when we went in for my session of radiation a little after noon.
It was probably a good thing that the physical therapist commented that in my situation, I didn’t truly need the occupational consultation that we had scheduled today too! Oh my God, it’s after midnight now, and I just NEED to finish this tomorrow!!! Oh well, I’ll just post what I have, because I’ll be able to update tomorrow, AKA #mañana! At least I got the photos in here alright! Oh, and I also FINALLY picked up the chapstick I needed, since when I was going back from Theatre in the Round, we stopped at a Kwik Trip to get gas and two sticks of chapstick too, which based on the photos I took was a Carmex medicated lip balm and sunscreen. OH, and the other very IMPORTANT photo I have is one with Miguel and the director of the play, Penelope, whose number I got too! She was also the costume designer, so half of the photos we took afterward were directly aimed at showing off the costumes! OK, it’s 1:26 am now, and I’m a touch exhausted!!!
Ok, the next day! Today I searched “19” on my website, trying to find this post, and last month’s popped up too, which was when Miguel sat down to eat lunch with both my parents. We’ve decided now that my parents don’t agree on a lot, but they agree on loving Talia and me, loving Elton John, and Miguel too! They’re both fans of him, which I love!!! Also, I threw up the next morning, before eating ANYTHING, so it was just some bile and no food! Anyway, I need to start today now! #the20th. Ok, I just changed one “tracking code" to “-3” to fit this all on one page!!!
